About Gigi

Gigi is a classically trained, impressionistic artist with a BFA from the University of Kansas. Although she is known for her expressive figurative, landscape, and still life paintings, she moves freely across many genres and mediums, each one shaped by the experiences and textures of her life. Her work is celebrated for its ability to capture deep expression and fluid movement, born from a lifetime practice of responding intuitively to the world around her. In 2009, at 55, Gigi lost her husband unexpectedly, dusted off her art degree, and began to reinvent and reconstruct a new life moving forward.

Following a 2011 sketching workshop in Paris, she began solo trips to Paris to further study in workshops and create art in various studios throughout Paris. She has built a beautiful, meaningful community there, and now calls it her second home. Gigi spends abundant time in Paris studios each year, drawing nude figures from live Parisian models—a demanding practice which keeps her eye precise and her hand alive.

At 72, she sees each year not as a memory sadly left behind, but as another golden thread woven into a richer, more resonant tapestry—one that only deepens with time. She looks forward to the personal and artistic growth that lies ahead.
